Masters Portfolio.
Most of the displayed sculptures were part of my Masters Portfolio.
I specialised in Japanese Raku firings and glazes to create gritty, smokey and lustrous finishes. Later, I turned to imitating similar finishes using an electric kiln. My focus was to use traditional wheel thrown methods of production, in a non traditional contemporary manner to build a collection of quirky and awkward unsettled figures. The finishes suited my spontaneous intuitive method of production, which was quite raw, however, there is a thoughtful sensitivity when using and moulding the clay to achieve the desired poses and movement to enhance an emotional bond with the audience.
My bronzes are created using a similar raw moulding process.
There are no replicas or casts made of any of the works. All sculptures are original artworks.
